The view from one of my room's windows where I stayed in Beacon.
Here's my room, very nice, especially the bath, which I didn't shoot.
Spent the night in Beacon at this B&B, the second floor round room.
This, and yesterday's, photo were taken from the train to Beacon, NY.
Internet was out, snow's on the way, so let's take a summer vacation.
Another older image of the Battery, the star of this photo is the clouds.
Shot the same evening as the image from 2 posts ago, love the water.
Another Battery image from a few years ago. this is my desktop, looks so different without my icons all over it. PS, I finished my novel today.
New Jersey seen from the Battery, sun was still shining at 5PM today.
Here's an older closeup of those Battery Park buildings, I just realized I missed my 1st year blog anniversary, hope I don't hit the hump now.
This is an older picture of the post 9/11 Battery, with none of the new buildings erected to replace the fallen ones up yet. The ones to the far right are clearly visible in the engulfing image from yesterday's post.
Another of the recent 9/11 images, you may recognize those buildings being engulfed from many of the photographs I have posted this year.
There is a group of newly released images from 9/11 shot from one of the NYPD helicopters that have been circulating, at least in New York. They are much closer to what I experienced that morning watching it from the street, I find this particular photograph especially haunting.
Cold but not wickedly so, snow is melting already, still dark at 5PM.
My holiday job at the Plaza Hotel which was suppose to be over right after Christmas ended today. Funny, I only had one last picture taken there to show you, so here they are one more time, those fabulous fish.
This Stieff T-Rex is my fave thing in the shop, alas he does not growl.
Plaza Gift Shop's best sellers, velour or waffle weave, gold logo robes.
Plaza cap and cashmere sweatshirt, if I said Leo would you get it?
Now, for my usual view of the Plaza, here is a bathroom for the staff.
A few years after the Plaza was finished, they bought the townhouse next door and tore it down to add an extension. It starts beyond that balcony. You wouldn't even notice unless you were told where to look.
Originally this was the main entrance to the Plaza coming in from Central Park, but since they did the recent renovations, it is now the lobby for the half of the building that has the permanent residents and is no longer open to the public. In fact, I took this through a glass wall.
The Palm Court ceiling, in the old days it was originally a skylight, now it is, as I understand it, back lit. Today the Palm Court and the Terrace Room were full of wildly expensive pianos for some big event.
Yesterday's hall from the other end, that's old the Edwardian Room.
The lobby is behind those mirrored doors, Palm Court is on the right.
To the right of yesterday's image is the check-in desk, and obviously you can come to the Plaza with enormous backpacks as your luggage.
