Any trip, unless one is driving, from the Cape to New York involves Boston. There is a Bonanza bus that leaves Hyannis and meanders through Rhode Island then invariably gets caught in rush hour traffic in Connecticut which is almost unbearable. I like the train that runs down the coast; the harbor in New London and the Long Island Sound are so pretty, day or night. This is the park on the Back Bay side of the Charles River. Says Boston all over, at least to me.

  1. Maureen, the images you post are so beautiful - and peaceful too. I find it very soothing to look at them so I can only imagine how beautiful the 'original' is! Warm wishes, V xx

  2. Thank you Veronica, The city scenes are usually in the midst of urban traffic and chaos where I'm trying to find a peaceful pocket so it's nice to know it's working. I look forward to reading more of your posts as well. Anything new since the goats?

  3. Good Sunday morning! (Or whenever you might see this comment!)

I enjoyed your images of the Back Bay. I remember many years ago - back in the mid 80s - I walked through the Commons and sat on the grass to hear an outdoor concert by a group called ... Chicago! I remember thinking how it was interesting I was listening to Chicago in Boston! Heh!

I had been to Fenway Park to see an afternoon game and in the early evening I heard music coming from the Commons. I could see this huge mass of people and I thought someone was playing records (yes, I was pretty naive and still am!). As I got closer and the crowd got bigger and I saw police officers on horses I realized it was a real, live concert!

I never saw the group but could only hear them. I think the people I was around were all those people who stand and sit outside the ticketed area and listen for free. Regardless I thought it was all most incredible and still remember it as a wonderful memory.

Take care and I, too, enjoy your peaceful images.

PS I think you should have let that young fella take your picture!

  4. Thanks Russell, maybe the concert had something to do with the Berklee School of Music, it's over by Fenway and Back Bay. Lots of instruments being carried around, especially in the Starbucks that's next to the campus.
And regards to having my picture taken, I prefer to say I'm like one of those people who think the camera steals their soul, but the truth of the matter is I hate seeing evidence that I'm not 30 anymore!
